Biography

Ólöf Helga (b.1972) graduated with a BA in Fine Art from Iceland University of the Arts in 2005. She went on to further studies, and graduated with an MFA in Fine Art from The Slade School of Fine Art – UCL, London in 2010.  Before her Fine Art studies, during 2001, Ólöf studied at The Icelandic Film School.

In her works Ólöf transports mundane materials away from their traditional role in everyday life. By so doing, she sheds new light on familiar settings. The materials Ólöf chooses, often have a historical meaning that can be very personal.

Ólöf has had some Solo exhibitions, and taken part in numerous group shows, amongst those, Sturtan/The Shower, Wind and Weather Window Gallery, Hvíta svítan /White suite, Galleri CC (Malmö), Blýanturinn fljúgandi/Flying pencil, Týsgalleríi, Í drögum/Prehistoric Loom, Akureyri Art Museum, Mörk/Border, Listasafn Árnesinga, Hola/A hole, Verksmiðjan á Hjalteyri. Ólöf lives and works in Siglufjörður.
